PERSONALITY TRAITS:

Fiercely independent and highly intelligent. Eagles generally like the finer things in life and will do what it takes to earn a higher status or the means to acquire a life of luxury.

Early on in life, the eagle was likely exposed to events that made them feel alone in this world and without support. This becomes an underlying theme in the unconscious of the eagle. After some time, the eagle learns to be highly independent and adept at navigating the world on its own.

Eagle archetypes don’t mind working hard and have developed the skills and a keen talent to go after what they want. They will likely not waste time on anything less than what they truly strive for. They prefer an elevated experience in every way and strive for that in everything they do and in their relationships. Eagles thrive on mastering their skills and can often be impatient with inefficiencies and those not able to keep up their pace.

Since an eagle spends so much time on their own, they learn to do things according to their own desires and their own rules. Eagles can become easily bored with the mundane and ordinary and prefer the extraordinary in everything they do. Eagles are usually bold and stylish, but in an understated and elegant way. They usually carry themselves with grace and poise and more easily relate to those like them.

An underdeveloped eagle can run the story called “I’m highly independent.” So they can alienate those that try to be in a relationship with an eagle archetype, as the eagle doesn’t chase friendships or partnerships. They can appear aloof and uninterested. They’re not uninterested; they are just very comfortable on their own – because they had to be. An eagle that develops in a healthy way will have to learn how to communicate more with their partner and loved ones because people like to feel needed and want to be an important part of the eagle’s life.

WHEN TRIGGERED:

If hurt or disappointed, an eagle will often push people away and feel as though they don’t need anyone. The story “I’m highly independent and I don’t need anyone” starts to run. In relationships, this can make the other person feel shut out as they retreat or shut their emotions off, distracting themselves with other things. This feeling of being alone is so undesirable for an eagle that they must focus on other things instead. And because an eagle is very comfortable with solitude, they may be gone a while. An eagle will harness that negative energy into action, which helps the eagle to cope, but it can feel awful for others and can alienate those that love the eagle.

An eagle usually needs some time to cool off and process their emotions and may need a lot of time to themselves before they fully reconnect. While the eagle is comfortable being alone and independent, they can get rather lonely. They deeply crave connection and while their hard exterior doesn’t show it, they are quite sensitive. Eagle archetypes need a partner that understands they won’t always communicate everything. They just need to feel strong and understood. They need a partner that is strong enough to know they will come back. This is especially true if an eagle doesn’t learn to master their emotions and learn how to ask for support or to communicate their needs.

HOW IT MAY BLOCK YOU:

Eagle archetypes are very selective about how they live their life and who they wish to be with. They want a higher status in all respects, so anything less than they desire will be discarded.

An eagle will have a certain stature and can sometimes have a hard time relating to people less elevated, which can alienate those around them. They prefer to surround themselves only with people of a similar status which can be isolating and skew their ability to be grounded.

In work and career, this can make an eagle very impatient and intolerable of other people’s faults or inefficiencies.

In relationships, the eagle will dictate how they want things to go and how they wish to live, putting pressure on those around them to always live up to the high standards of the eagle.

MASTERING YOUR ARCHETYPE:

On the pathway to mastering this personality archetype, the eagle will learn to be more open and learn that they need to work harder to stay connected. They will also learn to be more understanding of themselves and learn how to process their emotions more quickly. These lessons include understanding where the unconscious belief began, how the life block gets triggered, what the various reactions could be before healing, and how to make new choices as they master their emotions. So the eagle eventually learns that they are not alone and that they are, in fact, loved and supported. The eagle will become whole and complete again.
